Abstract

This study aims to analyze the determinants of health literacy of pregnant women in tobacco growing areas of Jember Regency and its influence on participation in Triple Elimination testing (HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B). The method used was a qualitative case study. This study was conducted in four health centers and used 24 informants with data collection through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation on pregnant women, health workers, and community cadres. The results showed that low health literacy is influenced by limited access to culturally appropriate information, strong social norms, the role of family in decision-making, and limited health services that are not fully responsive to local needs. The findings emphasize the importance of contextualized educational approaches, involvement of family and community leaders, and integration of Triple Elimination testing in antenatal services to increase awareness and participation of pregnant women
